Advising assistant dean recognized by national group of peers

Lily Board, assistant听dean for听academic听advising听and听student听success听in the College of Arts and Sciences,听has won听the听Outstanding Advising Administrator Award听from听NACADA:听The Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA).

Recipients are honored at NACADA鈥檚 annual conference awards ceremony,听scheduled to be听held听in听Puerto Rico听in听October,听and they receive a complimentary conference registration, recognition plaque and one-year听NACADA听membership.
Board, who is one of听three听winners,听received听many听nomination letters听from听CU Boulder and Naropa University colleagues听for听inspiring听a sense of purpose in the听college鈥檚听Academic Advising听Center (AAC),听effectively collaborating听with听campus听programs,听improving the unit鈥檚 inclusivity,听and听encouraging听practices听that emphasize compassion and mindfulness.听
鈥淭hrough effort and consensus building, she has captured the imagination of many who envision a brighter and more stable future for the AAC, the advising community and the campus as a whole,鈥 says Megan Stephenson,听who submitted one of Board鈥檚 nomination letters听and is听operations听and听business听analyst for the听college.听
听is the globe鈥檚 largest and most regarded association for听professional听advisors听and听counselors.听Begun in 1977,听the organization听has听more than 12,000 members听representing听the鈥50 United States, Puerto Rico听and several international countries.听听
It听created the听annual听Outstanding听Advising听Administrator Award to recognize听members who听advance their unit鈥檚听practices听by implementing innovative approaches to advising.听
Board began as an academic advisor for CU Boulder in 2008. In 2011, she听won NACADA鈥檚 Outstanding New Advisor Award shortly before听becoming听the director of academic advising at Naropa University. During her time at Naropa University she went on to serve as associate dean of Naropa College听before听returning听to the College of Arts and Sciences in 2018 as the assistant dean.听
Her nominees听praise听her听professionalism,听integrity, caring and the respect she garners from peers.听The letters also听note听her听unwavering commitment to the profession of academic advising and each individual in her unit.听
