Sriram Sankaranarayanan, professor in the Department of Computer Science, will be stepping into the role of associate dean for digital education. In this role, Sriram will lead efforts to incorporate online teaching and learning into the college mission.Â
Sriram currently holds the S.J. Archuleta Endowed Professorship. His research interests lie in the area of cyber-physical systems, using ideas from symbolic logic, theoretical computer science and control theory to analyze properties of computer systems that sense and actuate their physical environment. He teaches a variety of classes in computer science, covering topics such as discrete mathematics, algorithms, principles of programming language design, combinatorial optimization and formal methods. Sriram is currently one of the associate chairs for undergraduate studies in the department.
Sriram has been actively involved in MOOCs since 2013. His first MOOC on linear and integer programming was designed jointly with Shalom Ruben and attracted nearly 40,000 students from around the world. His recent MOOC on data structures and algorithms received the Coursera award for innovation in 2021.
