- Debbie Yeh, Student Support and Advising Services area director for the mechanical engineering neighborhood, was named Supportive Staff Member of the Year at the Center for Student Involvement’s annual Involvement Awards Ceremony.
- Engineering Staff Council elections are underway!Voting continues through May 12 for the next cohort of members. Eightwill be selected for two-year terms starting July 1. All staff members in the college should have received an email ballot on April 29. If you didn’t receive a ballot or have any questions, email esc@colorado.edu.
- A team of environmental, mechanical and electrical engineering students has taken firstplace in the national portion of the .According to Senior Instructor Mike Walker, the team's advisor: "This was a deep-dive solar design competition to develop a set of solar-PV/battery installations for the University of Central Florida, with the goal of maximizing economically viable renewables generation. The team was responsible for designing the systems and analyzing the performance, economic viability, distribution system impact and constructability for each of the 17 installations they investigated.Their final design incorporated both an agri-voltaics and floato-voltaic system, combined with more traditional ground-mounted, carport and roof mounted solar."
RISE IRT Offering Summer Fellowship, Seed Grant
The Resilient Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity Interdisciplinary Research Theme is offering a condensed fellowship/seed grant cycle of $10,000 that is open to faculty affiliates, post-docs or graduate students. The effort will fund pilot projects and research activities that relate to the three themes of the IRT. The intention is for the funds to be spent from June 15 through Aug. 15. The RISE IRT was formed in July 2020 and explores holistic actions to address the many drivers of urban disaster risk worldwide, while simultaneously addressing environmental sustainability and social equity challenges.
