ambitious (adj.):Â having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed. How to embrace the ambitious...Â
Challenging, demanding difficult, arduous—connotatively, our culture of competition has agreed to talk about ambitious undertakings negatively. Let’s reclaim that as we navigate these last few weeks of the term. Your work in ENVD is ambitious, visionary, innovative; and your talent, sweat equity, and persistence, your toolkit for achieving your goals. As the noise of the last month of the school year strives to drown out your drive, remember, you are ambitious, your work is ambitious, and your ability to succeed, real and realizable. Â
Feel your feelings Â
acknowledge the challenges you face and the stressors that impact you Â
Remember, you are not alone Â
your most valuable resource, your community, is strong, supportive, and experienced Â
Embrace your own resilience Â
you are capable, talented, and curious–this makes success attainable Â
Make a plan Â
intentional action fuels confidence and progress while helping you navigate uncertainty Â
Ask for and accept support Â
you pay for your instructors, advisors, coach, and TAs to support you–lean on these resources to learn how to best help yourself Â
Work smart, not hard Â
build a system that works for you; get comfortable with good enough; and prioritize your own wellness Â
