Dear graduate students on appointment,
I’m pleased to let you know that the Graduate School has updated its Paid Parental Leave Policy so that graduate students on appointment are now eligible for the benefit upon their first day of employment, rather than being required to be employed for a full semester first.Â
This change is effective as of Oct. 1 and aligns with an update to the university’s Paid Parental Leave Policy. In line with the campus interim policy, this change will also be retroactive to those experiencing a birth, adoption or foster placement since Jan. 1, 2022, who were not previously eligible.
Under the Graduate School’s policy, the paid parental leave benefit must be used immediately following a birth, adoption or foster placement. If you experienced one of these events between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30 of this year, please email graduate.fundadmin@colorado.edu to discuss your options for using this benefit.
Separately, I’m also excited to let you know that the university has adopted a new Lactation Room Policy that enhances CU Boulder’s existing efforts to provide clean, secure, user-friendly spaces and ensures accessibility of lactation spaces for our campus into the future.Â
These policy updates are two positive steps forward as we continue striving to enhance employee well-being and equity on our campus. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.Â
