Bio
Katie Gannon is working with Dr. Bella Oleksy in the Mountain Limnology Lab where they study high alpine lakes. Her work focuses on how greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide and methane) are produced, stored, and emitted from alpine lakes. She is particularly interested in how these processes are impacted by glacial imputs and changes in winter ice cover. For her master's degree, she studied an invasive aquatic plant (Eurasian Watermilfoil) and was interested in using the genetics of plant populations to inform lake specific best management practices. When she isn't doing science, you can find her trail running, reading books, and saying hello to every dog she sees!
