Teaching Technology

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is accepting applications for its year-long Faculty Fellows Program, designed to explore the intersection of teaching, learning, and technology. This program addresses emerging trends and challenges in higher education while equipping faculty with tools to integrate technology effectively into their teaching practices.

Digital technologies, including Zoom, learning management systems, and artificial intelligence, are rapidly transforming the landscape of higher education. The Faculty Fellows Program offers an opportunity to:

  • Explore New Frontiers: Investigate how technologies can enhance learning experiences and prepare students for success as global citizens in an evolving world.
  • Define Future Goals: Develop a vision for teaching and learning over the next 3–5 years, focusing on proactive use of technology to meet evolving demands.
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Move beyond reactive teaching strategies by designing forward-thinking approaches to leverage technological innovations effectively.

Program Overview

This year-long program brings together 10 faculty members who will collaborate to address challenges and opportunities in technology-enhanced teaching. Fellows will gain access to CTL staff, campus experts, and a network of peers committed to pedagogical innovation.

Program Highlights:
  • Monthly Meetings: Engage in in-depth conversations with CTL staff, the program director, and guest speakers from across campus.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work in teams to develop teaching resources, create campus-wide recommendations, or test new tools and methodologies in classrooms.
  • Hands-On Learning: Experiment with cutting-edge technologies, assess their effectiveness, and share findings with colleagues.
  • Expert Support: Access consultations and resources to refine teaching methods and improve student outcomes.
  • Funding Support: Receive $1,500 in a research account upon completing the program.

Program Goals

Participants will:

  • Integrate Technology with Purpose: Learn strategies to align digital tools with student-centered teaching approaches.
  • Develop Sustainable Practices: Build methods that foster active learning, engagement, and collaboration in hybrid, online, and in-person settings.
  • Evaluate and Reflect: Analyze how technology adoption impacts equity, access, and student success.
  • Shape the Future of Learning: Draft recommendations for institutional change and create resources that benefit CU Boulder’s broader teaching community.

This program is open to tenure-track faculty, teaching professors, and instructors who:

  1. Statement of Interest (One Page):
    • Describe your teaching philosophy and interest in integrating technology.
    • Outline your goals for participating and how you plan to apply insights from the program.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV):
    • Highlight your teaching experiences, research contributions, and innovations in pedagogy.
  3. Letter of Support:
    • A brief endorsement from your department chair or director acknowledging your participation and the value of this program.

What’s Next?

  • Selection Process: Applicants will be notified of acceptance by October 15, 2023.
  • Program Start Date: The program kicks off with an orientation meeting in early November 2023.
