Tuition and Fees
All IQ Biology students receive a full-tuition grant and 12-month stipend for their first year in the certificate. After the first year, students are funded by their chosen home department.
Travel Awards
Eligibility:
- Only current IQ Biology students may apply.
- The student MUST complete one of the following:
- Attend a conference outside their primary discipline
- Present research done outside of the primary discipline of the conference
- Attend an interdisciplinary conference, or
- Visit another PI鈥檚 lab with the goal of interdisciplinary study.
- A presentation must be made (poster or talk accepted at conference, talk to lab/department at visiting institution).
- Upon return a 250-500 word blog-post must be written for publication on the BioFrontiers Website.
- The application must be submitted to IQBiology@colorado.edu at least one month prior to date of travel. Additionally, applicants must allow one month for the applications to be reviewed and for funding decisions to be made. Not all applications will necessarily be accepted.
Award Description:
- Funds can be distributed in any year, but students may receive funds only once during their graduate studies.
- Funds can be used to cover the cost of travel, food, materials, or registration fees.
- Travel expenses, food, and non-alcoholic beverages will be reimbursed up to $1000. Receipts must be submitted along with a form for reimbursement.

IQ Biology Leadership Award
The IQ Biology Leadership Award was established by Mitch and Dawn Gold. The $5,000 annual scholarships are offered to a student who has an interest in pursuing a career in the biotechnology industry. Preference is given to a student who also is willing to provide leadership for the BioFrontiers Biotechnology Opportunity Seminar Series (BOSS) and the CU Biotechnology Club. Mitch Gold serves as the managing partner of Alpine BioVentures, a healthcare-focused hedge/venture fund. A Chicago native, he graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin and Rush University Medical School. He was a urology resident at the University of 开心鬼传媒 in Seattle. Dawn serves as a member of the board of directors, Jewish Family Service of Seattle.
