Ìý- Collections Intern / Costumes
Job Overview:
The Museum of Boulder is seeking up to three interns over the next year to assist with a variety of projects including the Boulder EATS! exhibit, processing objects from the March 22nd shooting, updating the Museum's database and a collection inventory. Interns will work with historic artifacts to accession, photograph, conduct condition reports, create objectÌýstorage, update the Museum's database - Past Perfect, choose objects for upcoming exhibits, write narrative labels, etc. By the end of the Internship, internsÌýwill have gained a basic understanding of day-to-day work in collection management.Ìý

Schedule:Ìý8-10 hours per week. Must be available on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. Specifics to be determined with curator.

Compensation/Credit:ÌýThis position is unpaid. Students may earn 3 credits towards their HIST major or minor by completing several personal reflections/journal entries and submitting a final product/sample of work from their internship. To earn credit, students must enroll in HIST 4930.

- Collections Assistant
Job Overview:
This is a paid summer internship position. You will assist the Collections Coordinator in researching, cataloging, photographing, and labeling a large incoming donation.
ABOUT THE LAFAYETTE HISTORY MUSEUM
Through our exhibits, educational programming, walking tours, field trips for students, research material, and more, we preserve and share the fascinating stories of Lafayette’s evolution. Housed in the Lewis Home, an 1890s coal miner’s cottage that is on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum appeals to adults and children alike.

Schedule:Ìý15 hours per week for 10 weeks between May - August (flexible start/end dates).

Compensation/Credit: $17/hour. Students may earn 3 credits towards their HIST major or minor by completing several personal reflections/journal entries and submitting a final product/sample of work from their internship. To earn credit, students must enroll in HIST 4930, which is available for reduced Summer tuition.
Essential Duties:
- Using spreadsheets to record catalog information for objects
- Object identification and research
- Object photography
- Careful and safe handling of artifacts and archival material following best practices
Skills you will gain:
- Object catalog creation
- Metadata creation
- Object handling
- Knowledge of Lafayette and farming history
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate in a program in museum studies or related field
- Experience with object handling
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Excel
- Effective communication skills
- Detail-oriented and thorough
- Ability to follow directions and ask questions as needed
Physical requirements of the job:
- Moderate physical activity is required with handling objects up 10 pounds regularly, 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds with assistance occasionally
- Occasionally working in storage spaces that are not climate controlled
- Crouching, bending over, moving around large objects to reach other objects
- Attention to detail with fine motor skills
- Comfort with occasionally handling dirty or rusty objects and working in dusty storage areas (PPE will be provided)

- Oral History CollectionsÌý
The Louisville Historical Museum is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Oral History Intern to assist in processing and cataloging its oral history collection. This internship provides a unique opportunity to engage in archival work, transcription, and working with recorded interviews. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about public history, digital archiving, and long-term accessibility of oral history materials. This position is ideal for students in history, library science, archives, museum studies, or related fields.Ìý

Schedule:ÌýThis position is seasonal for an estimated 10 hours/ week from June 3-August-August 8; maximum of 108 hours total.Ìý

Compensation/Credit: $22.51/hour. Students may earn 3 credits towards their HIST major or minor by completing several personal reflections/journal entries and submitting a final product/sample of work from their internship. To earn credit, students must enroll in HIST 4930, which is available for reduced summer tuition.
Examples of Duties
- Review existing oral history interviews, write short summaries of contents, and prepare oral histories for online use.
- Conduct quality control checks on transcripts and audio recordings.
- Edit oral history videos for posting on YouTube and Museum website.
- Ensure proper documentation and verification of interview consent forms.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
General Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in public history or history, museum studies, library science, or archives preferred, experience working in a museum setting preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including spelling and typing accuracy.
- Experience or coursework in archival methods, video editing, and transcription preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is a plus.
- Interest in oral history, community engagement, and historical preservation.
- Ability to take direction and work independently.
